Considering Adoption?

While adoption is an understandably difficult decision to make, it can also provide a stable, happy life for the child. With that said, choosing adoption does not necessarily mean never seeing the child again. In fact, many adoptions allow you to play an active role in the child’s life.

Adoption can provide you with the peace of mind that comes with knowing the child is cared for and has what they need to have a happy, healthy life. The staff at New Direction Women’s Center is available to help guide you through this adoption process.

First, it is important to realize why adoption may be the right choice for you and the child. Perhaps it’s because you don’t want an abortion, but also don’t feel ready to parent. Maybe it’s because you and the child’s father are not in a stable relationship. It could be because of financial limitations. Whatever your concern, we are here to help.

Types of Adoptions

There are three types of adoptions: open, semi-open, and closed. Choosing an adoption process that is both best for you and your child is important. If you have further questions about the types of adoptions or are considering adoption, please contact us.

Open Adoption

An open adoption allows for regular contact between you, the child, and his or her adoptive parents. This method allows you to have the opportunity to choose the family your child will go to.

Semi-Open Adoption

A semi-open adoption only allows for limited contact between you and the birth parents. This contact is typically mediated through a third-party, usually an adoption agency.

Closed Adoption

In a closed adoption, there is limited or no contact between you and the adoptive parents and no personal or identifying information is shared between the two parties. Additionally, there is no contact with the child.

Regardless of why you’re considering an adoption, the staff at New Direction Women’s Center can help provide the information you need to make an empowered decision regarding your next steps. We are here to answer any questions you may have. Contact us today!
